Horopito Pseudowintera colorata  Tincture 1:5 500ml

Known as the native pepper tree is an evergreen found in New Zealand's North Island mountains extending down to sea level. Because of it's preference for areas with high rainfall Horopito is susceptible to attacks by fungi which has led to it evolving it's natural defences and leaving it high in a compound called Sesquiterpene dialdehyde polygodiali which is an anti-fungal. For this reason Horopito is now used in a number of anti-fungal products. Sesquiterpene dialdehyde polygodiali is also primarily responsible for horopito's distinctive peppery taste.

Horopito was traditionally used by Maori both internally and externally for a huge range of ailments from leaves steeped in water to wash wounds, bruised leaves used as a poultice, oral thrush (candidiasis) and stomach ache among many other uses.

Horopito supports the digestive system and can be used as a mouthwash. Supports healthy skin.
